Forgiveness- The Power Within

Power of Forgiveness-

Jesus said... "You should forgive someone 70 x 7. If anyone does you wrong you need to forgive them. BECAUSE if you Do Not forgive them, your Heavenly father will not forgive you." Mark 11:25

Here we find that Forgiveness Restores the Norm No matter what takes place, Forgiveness releases the grips of anger, bitterness, revenge, and stress in your life! And it restores the relationship to the norm again. Now that may be a little easier said then done for some.

Also How can you LOVE a God whom you do not see and Hate a brother you do. (1 John 4:20)

And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. (Mark 11:25)

Ouch! So we need to FORGIVE in order to have a relationship with God. We see here that God desires for us to have a clear relationship with Him and others. Forgiveness entitles a bit of LOVE in a sense because God is Love. Hmm, what else does the bible say about forgiveness?

But yet we see in John 20:23 Jesus said "IF you forgive anyone their sins, they are forgiven, but if you do NOT, they are not forgiven." What does this mean? How can Jesus say one thing one time and say the opposite later?? We need to understand exactly the root on what He was meaning. In this full verse we can see He is talking about receiving the Holy Spirit. What does having the Holy Spirit have to do with Forgiveness? It mean EVERYTHING. Jesus did no mircles until His baptism and the Holy Spirit came to him. Jesus said "Unless I die the (Comforter) Holy Spirit will not come to you." With in the Holy Spirit we have POWER and AUTHORITY! Power and Authority to do a lot of things, but in this case He was talking about Healing. (Jesus heals the parolitic and asks the crowd (Mark 2:6-12) "What is easier to say? Your sins are forgiven OR get up take your mat and walk.) Jesus related the Forgiveness to the man's sin with his Healing. This is very important to understand. Jesus was not giving people the option to forgive a person that wrongs you like in John 20. There He was referring to a person who transgresses against you. BUT in Mark 2 Jesus referres to Forgiveness as a Healing. This is very crucial to understand because some have come to understand forgiveness (to your brother) as optional. (To sum it up, we have the power to forgive sins that relates to healing.)

Let's also look at ( Hebrews 8:12 & 10:17 "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." ) You see Jesus was not telling the disciples to forgive anyone's sins (wrong they did), because Jesus already paid that price on the cross. Jesus was telling them to bring Healing because of the sin. Sickness, disease, death etc. entered the earth when man sinned, it is all relevant and should not be viewed separately. We tend to divide them and view them as such. Though you may be effected by sin, it doesn't mean you have sin.

There is also another form of healing. Healing the Soul. Someone carrying a heavy burden of sins, like the prostitute that Jesus spoke to. Upon acceptance of Jesus, Jesus will (forgive) heal those wounds.

WHY Healing? Well that was Jesus' ministry! He said I do not come with words but with the Power of God! What makes Christianity different then any religion? Jesus came with the Power to prove it! Paul says it best here. 1 Corinthians 4:20 "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power."

22. And with that he breathed on them and said, "RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT.
23. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."
